Where Have All The Words Gone?

I’ve rarely been accused of being at a loss for words. Yes, I’m an introvert who prefers quiet and alone time. But words rarely fail me, always swirling in my mind, sometimes spoken aloud, mostly written.

Yet, ever since launching Wild Running into the big world in April 2024, I’ve felt strangely… mute. I struggle to express myself.

I’ve managed just seven blog posts since then, one of which was titled Post-publishing Blues. That post recognized that I failed to have a new project in mind before finishing Wild Running. Big mistake. But, I also had an idea for a new project and finished the post by saying I was feeling more motivated.

Then… life happened, bringing lots of big changes. Some sad, some surprising and life-altering (in a good way). More on that soon.

So. This brief post is my first baby step toward what I hope and intend is a return to regular posting. Words are crowding my brain, pushing, insisting on being set free. Who am I to resist?

Lots to say and share. Please stay tuned…

    1. Thanks, Andy! I’m way behind with the blogs I follow, so forgive my absence, but I’m finally settled in my new home now and eager to get back into those routines. Conall and Chann are well and happy to be back in Idaho, as am I. Sadly, Finn passed in early December, aged 17. Hope all’s well in your world!

  1. Getting to spend some time in your neck of Idaho last year makes me see why you like it so much. Glad y’all are back! As for a project to work on, a little birdie told me that there was a female protagonist and her dogs just waiting on someone to tell her story about solving mysteries in the wild!

    1. Lee, I keep trying, but I just can’t seem to make stuff up (i.e., write fiction). Too literal and concrete a thinker, I guess. Plus, doing a little research, I discovered that someone else recently published a mystery with McCall as the setting, so I’m already too late!
