Dog Photobombs IX – April – May 2021

It’s that time of year again! Wildflower photo bloopers.

While my dogs and I are out running or hiking in the forest, I enjoy taking photos of wildflowers and vistas. Conall and Finn patiently wait for me, usually following their noses nearby until I’m ready to start moving again.

Most of my photos take mere seconds to snap. I see something, I stop, grab my phone/camera from a pocket, and take a photo or two, sometimes using the “portrait” function which takes a nice closeup without me having to get too close because some of these wildflowers are really tiny and I’m not as flexible as I used to be. I end up with a bunch of not-quite-in-focus photos which are quickly deleted.

I love digital photography with a smart phone. So easy, so accessible.

Sometimes the boys wander into my “carefully framed” photo. Rather than scold them, I just keep tapping the button and taking photos. My camera gets challenged, not sure what to focus on. Their dog feet, noses or bodies provide perspective for plant/flower size. Other times, I don’t realize until I pull a photo up on my desktop screen that I’ve been photobombed. This first one is a perfect example. I was actually disappointed to see Conall in the background because I had worked hard to get the camera low to the ground and steady to capture the raindrops on the flower’s petals. Oh well!

  1. Fun photos! I can’t believe we once took photos and then sent the roll of film off for processing ans waited a week to see the disappointing results. Now we get disappointed almost immediately.

  2. Lovely shots Rebecca. I actually like the doggie photobombs. Your smartphone camera roll must be packed like mine, with thousands of photos. Thank goodness for smartphones and not having to process film.

  3. They’re just trying to be helpful. 😉 The third one, with the trillium, looks like it has two aspen trunks in the background. Your models give an idea of the scale to us viewers.
